Dream Deferred
Harlem by Langston Hughes
What happens to a dream deferred? Does it dry up like a raisin in the sun? Or fester like a sore-- 5 And then run? Does it stink like rotten meat? Or crust and sugar over-- like a syrupy sweet? Maybe it just sags 10 like a heavy load. Or does it explode?
For this journal, you will take a more optimistic stance about dreams, and write a poem titled:
"Dream Encouraged". Use Langston Hughes poem as inspiration, especially for formatting. Like his poem, you will have a five similes and one metaphor. Plus, you should ask questions. You will have a minimum of 15 lines.
